Why Windward System Five uses Pervasive

Wonder why Windward uses the Pervasive database as the "muscle" behind System Five's "brains"? After doing extensive research on what options were available, Windward chose the Pervasive PSQL database because of its superior scalability, speed, and dependability. Pervasive was founded in 1994 and sells its products into more than 150 countries, so you know they must stand behind their product, much like how Windward stands behind our System Five.

Pervasive PSQL will work on a single computer, a peer to peer network, a client server network or even over a WAN with hundreds of licenses. On the server side, it will run on Novell, Microsoft NT, 2000 Server or 2003 Server, or Linux. This gives our customers a lot of choices and grows with them as they grow.

On the speed side, Pervasive runs in a transactional mode known as Btrieve in addition to the SQL mode. The transactional mode is a little harder to program for, but Windward has found that it is much faster for storing data. The SQL mode is great for searching or for reports. We use the best of both worlds throughout our software to maximize your speed and power.

But the bottom line is that the database should be a minor concern to you, the end user. Our customers look to us for how Windward System Five operates and what we can do to help manage their business. Customers don't care about what program we code in or what database we use because it's not something that generally impacts on the day-to-day usage - they know Windward's group of development experts are doing their job right!.

When we sell our Windward System Five software, it includes the Pervasive database as part of the price so customers don't have to worry about paying extra after having made the purchase - no "hidden costs".
